Crews respond to fire at homeless camp in Forest Grove

The Hot Springs campground in the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge is a relatively large primitive campground with pit toilets, but no fire rings, drinking water or hook-ups. There are 30 campsites near the popular hot springs, managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Scouting the rolling plains for pronghorn is a fun activity as well.

Hart Mountain is a gorgeous location and although didnt see any antelope, I was treated to solitude and scenery. Hot springs were great and met some wonderful people who were very welcoming and had been coming to the same area for years. 100% free and plenty of spaces to pull up and choose from across the preserve. If youre traveling along the Columbia River and need a place to stop east of The Dalles, the Rufus Landing Recreation Area is a convenient boondocking and dispersed camping site. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it has no designated sites but is rather a huge gravel parking area, meaning tent campers might have to plan to snag spots before RVers do.

Just because its a straightforward camping site doesnt mean it doesnt offer amenities, though. There are restrooms available just a short walk away, and theres a hiking access down to the Columbia River.

This campground is a simple gravel lot for drop-in camping. No fire pits or reserved spots. If youre going to a show at Maryhill or just need a place to crash along the highway this is a great spot. Has restrooms and river access! The Dyrt camper Karina J.

This is a review for rv parks near Forest Grove, OR 97116:

“This is a really special RV park! We throughly enjoyed our stay and extended our stay for several more nights than originally planned. The atmosphere is relaxed and you truly feel like time slows down here. We got great enjoyment watching all the ships float by on the Columbia River which was clearly visible from our RV spot. Our family was here for salmon fishing and we found this location to be convenient. WE WILL BE BACK! The only suggestion we would make to other campers is to bring your own water. There is a notice in the Womens restroom that the water at the park has arsenic in it and they are working to resolve this issue.”
